-Какие основные достоинства и недостатки использования этих программ в обучении?

2.Просмотрите предложенные сайты и скажите, как они могут помочь пользователям Word:

3.Просмотрите примеры использования Word в классе. Разработайте свой план урока с использованием Word.

Weed read - A lesson plan

Aim:
for students to analyse a text and find the superfluous words
Resources:
one copy of text on a Word document for projection in class
Level:
Pre intermediate +

Stages

1.     Select a text of no more than 100 words and put into a Word document. It is a good idea to choose a text which students have already read previously, that way there should be less instances of unknown words and confusion of the meaning of the text.

2.     With careful consideration enter ten extra words (see tip below).

3.     Adjust the text size so that it will be readable once projected in the class.

4.     In class, project the Word document and set a general question so students get the gist of the story.

5.     Explain that there are extra words in the text (if the students have truly skimmed the text they should not have noticed).

6.     Ask students to work in small groups and discuss which words are not needed.

7.     Nominate one student to control the keyboard.

8.     Elicit suggestions from the class. Only accept a suggestion if there is majority agreement from the rest of the class.

9.     As teacher you may need to arbitrate.

Weed reаd

Read the text below. There are ten extra words in the text. Highlight the extra words.

Thousands of miles from an earth, on the far away side of the universe is a small planet, Fliptune. It is dark and is cold, far from the sun, behind a much bigger planet.

Little green aliens are live there. They use the torches to see.

One day, a young alien, Neila, did put the wrong batteries in her torch.

Suddenly there to was a dazzling beam of light house. It went up into the sky, around the sun, and was hit planet earth.

The light hit a boy called Billy and his animal dog, Splodge. Neila quickly turned the torch off, but the pair were sucked up by the light.

Where have all the verbs gone? - A lesson plan

Aim:
for students to practise narrative (past) tenses by completing a text which has had all the verbs taken out
Resources:
one copy of text on a Word document for projection in class, one paper copy for each student in the class
Level:
Any depending on difficulty of text

Stages

1.     Select a text of no more than 100 words and put into a Word document, removing all verbs.

2.     Adjust the text size so that it will be readable once projected in the class.

3.     In class, project the Word document and set a general question so students get the gist of the story.

4.     Ask students if they have spotted anything strange about the text.

5.     Ask students to work in small groups and verbally reconstruct the text.

6.     Nominate one student to control the keyboard and elicit suggestions from the rest of the class for the missing verbs giving time for the student at the keyboard to enter the new words.

7.     If there are any instances where two or more words would be appropriate, discuss any differences in meaning with the students.

8.     Once the text is complete, turn off the projector and hand out individual copies of the text.

9.     Ask students to work through the text. Now they have seen the text once this should act as a reinforcement activity.

10.                       Turn on the projector and ask students to compare their texts.

Where have all the verbs gone? – Possible answer

All the verbs have been taken out of this text.  Work with a partner to put

 them back in again.

These friends of mine needed/wanted a new carpet, so they went to the shop and chose/bought one and the carpet-fitter came round to fit it while they were out at work. When he finished, he realised/saw/noticed that there was a bump right in the middle. He thought that this must be a pack of cigarettes that he absent-mindedly misplaced/lost, so he jumped up and down on the bump until it was flat. The family came home and saw/ looked at/inspected the carpet. Then they asked the man if he had seen their pet canary which was missing. It was then that he saw/noticed his cigarettes on the hall table!

4.Может ли Word использоваться для  Whole-class teaching? В чем преимущества использования Word для Whole-class teaching?

Whole-class teaching

As the name suggests whole-class teaching is when you, the teacher, are leading the class as a whole rather than students working individually, in pairs or any other size group.
You may think this goes against modern thinking of English language teaching which says that students should be engaged in communicative practice and, of course, how can this be done if the whole class is doing something together.

Whole-class teaching can offer us a number of benefits for the English language classroom:

  • it allows the class to work collaboratively
  • it allows weaker students to learn from stronger students
  • it allows the teacher to evaluate strengths and weaknesses easily
  • it can be used as an introduction to group work
  • students who are used to this approach may gain confidence from this before they are asked to do similar activities in groups/individually.

As well as benefiting students for the reasons listed above, there are some practicalities too. If you only have one computer and projector in the class, whole-class teaching can be an effective way of integrating learning technologies into class. The Word activities are especially good for use in a computer room too. However, the activities chosen for this activity can be done if you only have access to one computer and projector.
